Easy Copycat Dollywood-Style Cinnamon Bread

Six golden cinnamon-sugar rolls baked in a foil loaf pan

Turn frozen dinner rolls into warm, buttery pull-apart cinnamon bread with almost no prep work. The rolls rise right in the pan before being baked under layers of cinnamon sugar and brown sugar.

This is a homemade copycat recipe inspired by Dollywood's popular cinnamon bread. It is not an official Dollywood recipe.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 6 frozen Rhodes dinner rolls, or similar frozen yeast rolls
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Cinnamon-sugar seasoning, to taste
  • Brown sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan. Lightly coat a small loaf pan or baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Add the rolls. Arrange the six frozen rolls evenly in the prepared pan, leaving a little room between them to expand.
  3. Add the first cinnamon layer. Pour the melted butter over the frozen rolls. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar, followed by brown sugar according to your preferred sweetness.
  4. Let the dough rise. Cover the pan loosely and leave it in a warm, draft-free place for 3 to 4 hours. The rolls should look soft, puffy, and noticeably larger.
  5. Heat the oven. Near the end of the rising time, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Season again. Add another light coating of cinnamon sugar over the risen rolls.
  7. Bake. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and the center rolls are baked through. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with foil for the final few minutes.
  8. Serve warm. Allow the bread to rest for about 5 minutes, then pull apart and enjoy while it is still warm and buttery.

Mood Messy Tips

  • Rising time can vary with room temperature. Focus on the rolls becoming tall and puffy rather than watching the clock alone.
  • Place the baking pan on a sheet pan if you use plenty of butter and sugar, since the mixture can bubble over.
  • For a sweeter finish, drizzle the warm bread with a simple powdered-sugar glaze.
  • Serve it for breakfast, brunch, dessert, or alongside hot coffee.

Storage: Cover leftovers and keep them at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat individual portions briefly before serving.
