Southern Butter Bean Dip

Southern butter bean dip

Think spinach dip, but make it Southern. This butter bean dip is creamy, cheesy, smoky, and baked until hot and bubbly with bacon and sharp cheddar.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked butter beans, drained
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mash about half of the butter beans, leaving some whole for texture.
  3. Mix butter beans, cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, bacon, and seasonings.
  4. Spread into a small baking dish.
  5. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm with crackers.

Mood Messy Tips

  • Leave some beans whole so the dip has texture.
  • Add diced jalapenos if you want a little heat.
  • This is best served hot while the cheese is melted.
